Every year I see dozens of talented athletes who come in amazing conditions for competitions, but sometimes don't think about that moment of after, what happens on the day after the competition, what it will be like, and what they should do.

Many athletes go through bodybuilding competitions in the United States and the world after bringing their bodies to the highest extremes, both regarding nutrition and calories, concerning both fluid and substance use, levels of fatigue, and more.


The huge amounts of food that the athlete suddenly “pushes” for himself immediately after the competitions put the body in shock. Unfortunately, the body cannot utilize so many calories and energy, nor is it can evacuate all this food in feces.


The body, muscle cells, and fat that were so drained “thirsty” to absorb their volume in the fastest possible way. Therefore, my head will fill up with the glycogen stores in the muscle, making us look puffier and fuller, sometimes even better than the competition itself. These first three days of post-competition are often the times when some of us look the best you can, even more than the day of the competition itself (this is an opportunity for you to learn the next competition when your body looks the best and what is the best load for you). Therefore, returning the calories to the carbohydrate menu should be gradual, each person according to their weight and condition, training program, and genetics. You need to know and measure carefully how to get back to normal.


Of course that doesn't mean you shouldn't “celebrate” and eat whatever comes to you for two days, but those days should be in control, and not continue uninhibited week.

After the muscles are filled and with which the muscles are fluid, our bodies begin to store subcutaneous fluids for two main reasons - one to compensate for the extreme shortage of fluids in which our body has been so long, and the second is the neuronal / electrolyte imbalance that results from the brutal drying process, the salts accurately, And even the use of strong variables that completely disrupt the sodium-potassium ratio. From this, the side effects are very fast, whether it been edema, obesity, stretch marks, blood pressure, and severe headaches, to severe heart injury and kidney failure.


So, the basic solutions would be to try to balance (of course, to check every case), but one of the quick ways is to help our bodies in a natural way to get rid of “water” and sodium - but I stress - in a natural way!
