Gabapin

Gabapin is an anticonvulsant drug which works by decreasing abnormal activity in the brain, and by affecting certain nerves and chemicals which are responsible for seizures and pain. It is widely used to control and prevent seizures in patients who are affected by epilepsy. Beside preventing seizures, Gabapin is also used to treat restless leg syndrome, to provide relief from postherpetic neuralgia (pain occurring following an attack of shingles), trigeminal neuralgia and various other types of pain.

Gabapin is usually prescribed according to a strict and specific dosing regimen. It is taken at evenly spaced time intervals each day. Some patients may be told to take it 3 times per day. If this is the case, your doctor will tell you not to allow more than 12 hours to pass in between each dose, otherwise the risk of seizures may be increased. Abrupt cessation of treatment is not advised, due to the risk of worsening seizures or withdrawal symptoms. In most cases, patients are told by the prescribing doctor to gradually decrease their dosage when stopping treatment.

Side effects: pain in the ear, irritation of the eyes, problems with your memory function, uncontrolled body shaking or eye movements, eating more than usual or weight gain.

In some cases, patients taking Gabapin have experienced other rare but potentially serious side effects. You must seek medical attention or see your doctor straight away if you notice a worsening of seizures, fever, flu symptoms or any other serious reactions.
