Mysoline (Primidone) is an anti convulsant drug, also called an anti epileptic drug. It is used to control convulsions (epileptic seizures).
Mysoline is used for the treatment of various types of seizures (fits; like grand mal, focal or Jacksonian), tremors and epilepsy (temporal lobe). It is also used for the management of myoclonic jerks (sudden, brief, involuntary jerking of a muscle or group of muscles) and akinetic attacks (shaking/drop attacks).
Mysoline belongs to a class of medication called anticonvulsants. It works by decreasing abnormal excitation of the brain and thus helps in controlling seizures.
Side effects: slurred speech; loss of balance or coordination; easy bruising or bleeding; or unusual weakness, dizziness, drowsiness, spinning sensation; nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite; feeling irritable; blurred vision; mild skin rash; or impotence, loss of interest in sex.
