What is Meridia?
Meridia (sibutramine) was withdrawn from the U.S. market in October 2010. Meridia affects chemicals within the brain that affect weight maintenance.Meridia is employed alongside diet and exercise to treat obesity which will be associated with diabetes, high cholesterol, or high vital sign.

Before taking Meridia, tell your doctor if you've got glaucoma, high vital sign, liver or renal disorder, depression, an underactive thyroid, seizures, a bleeding disorder, a history of gallstones, or if you're older than 65 or younger than 16.
Tell your doctor about all prescription and over-the-counter medications you employ, especially antidepressants, cold or allergy medication, narcotic pain medicine, or migraine headache medicines.
Tell your doctor if you are doing not lose a minimum of 4 pounds after taking the medication for 4 weeks alongside a coffee calorie diet.
Before taking this medicine
Don't use Meridia if you've got taken furazolidone (Furoxone), isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) within the last 14 days. Serious, life-threatening side effects can occur if you employ Meridia before the MAO inhibitor has cleared from your body. you ought to not take Meridia if you're allergic to Meridia, or if you have:
- severe or uncontrolled hypertension (high blood pressure);
- a disorder (anorexia or bulimia);
- a history of arteria coronaria disease (atherosclerosis);
- a history of heart condition (congestive coronary failure, cardiac rhythm disorder);
- a history of attack or stroke; or
- if you're taking stimulant diet pills.
If you've got any of those other conditions, you'll get to adjust your dose of Meridia or have special tests:
- glaucoma;
- high blood pressure;
- liver disease;
- kidney disease;
- depression;
- underactive thyroid;
- epilepsy or seizure disorder;
- a bleeding or blood coagulation disorder;
- a history of gallstones; or
- if you're older than 65 or younger than 16.
FDA pregnancy category C. it's not known whether Meridia will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you're pregnant or decide to become pregnant while using Meridia. it's not known whether sibutramine passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. don't use Meridia without telling your doctor if you're breast-feeding a baby. don't give this medication to anyone younger than 16 years old.
